Help with my ruby idea

Hi guys,
Im still getting my head how all this flowstone malarcy works, wondering if I could get a bit of dirrection.
I am trying to make a routing thing, with a sting of effects units.
Im trying to create a seris of boxes that have drop down boxes inside them, that can be draged about maybe in the future. The selection of the boxes im trying to make order a array in a seperate dsp box that arranges the targets and sources behind the scenes.
I wanted to impliment a hash but I can't get my head around to refernce the keys and ref the outputs and somehow contain the multiple drop down boxes.
Im not looking for it to be done for me, as I will not learn but help with how to structure the code correctly.
Anyhelp will be much apperciated.
