Me too!

Works flawlessly in Tracktion and VSTHost; guess someone here will have to look into the schematic to see what might be doing this with certain hosts and not others.

Difficult, if the error only occurs for the expored schematic (and only in some hosts). I loaded it in FS alpha which is a great help for debugging but couldn't find anything suspicious. Perhaps you could locate the source if you strip off parts until the error (in the export) disappears.

I can’t reproduce the problem. Here’s what I did to test:

Kevin’s original dll worked fine in Reaper 32 and 64 and Cakewalk.

I made new 32 and 64 bit exports in alpha …g42e98d6 (I don’t use the current one because the string find prim is broken).

Both new exports work in Reaper and Cakewalk.

In all tests I recorded a short track and tried different presets while it looped.

If you made a 64 bit export in the current alpha maybe that’s the problem. If not, I don’t know! I can share my working 64 bit export if you need it.

Cheers

Yes, please share the working 64-bit. If it is an issue related to my PC, it wouldn't make much sense if I did my own export.

What makes me discouraged is that you had success in Cakewalk (I guess in a similar production situation?). My DAW is Cakewalk, and it was when I replaced a 64-bit synth on the instrument track with the 32-bit Vector, that the issues were there. When I open Cakewalk, create an empty project and add Vector to it, it might work. But that's not what I need. It must be reliable in a project with several other plugins running at the same time as well.

I am generally leery, when I hear or see "tested on ...", because mostly it just means, installed it, opened the DAW, the scan went fine. And that's it. Rarely is it really tested in a true production situation. I know from Adam, how many things only come to light from users who use Viper really in production. Adam was able to nail the issues (except one, Adam, I'm on it ;) ), but it wasn't easy, especially when things only happen under specific circumstances that you yourself can't reproduce.

Ok, I went a bit off. Basically I expect this to become one of the issues that will not be solved.

I'll try, but I admit that I'm not very motivated. I understand it's a specific issue and might even be explicitly bound to the way I do the music production, but I'd rather do music, than this tedious work :?

@tulamide
I’ve attached the working 64 bit dll; working for me anyway :?

I re-checked it and this time looked at the Windows task manager but saw nothing unpleasant. So, like you say, your issue doesn’t seem to relate to CPU usage.

Thank you! Will test it this afternoon!

Oh, and Kevin, I might just have found my master. The one to shut me up. I just looked at the Waldorf Kyra. A fascinating concept. And the features are mind-blowing.

128 voice polyphony
8 parts (always active)
each part has 10 oscillators (!!), divided into two groups, and two filters (multi-mode filters, that can work serial or parallel, incl true stereo) (!!) and 9 effects (!!)

so, a patch (or preset) has a total of 80 oscillators, 16 filters and 72 effects  :o :ugeek:

voice handling by setting the parts (midi channel and key range)

you could create a 80 oscillator monster sound, but that would be monophonic, of course (see polyphony)

that's a beast you can't recreate in software, although it is fully digital. It uses not even dsp chips, as they would not allow for this many features. They use specific technology chips, called FPGA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array), allowing for tailor made and highly optimised parallel processing.

I swear, I will never ask you for 16 filters per patch!

That's a relief - my limit is 15. 8-)

Specs like that almost border on the obscene.

Well I personally can't stand that this is not in chrome and burlwood and maybe some enameled steel. I'll work on a new design for it after tomorrow. Photo real probably. I'll feel better then.

Sounds like a description of a bordello jukebox. :? :( ;)
