Quilcom SIM-SQUEEZE

Post by Spogg »

Someone asked me if I could have a go at an accordion, so I did.
As usual, I found lots of information that I wasn’t aware of before, which is shared in the Background info folder.

An accordion is a type of “Squeeze box” which is an affectionate term for this type of bellows-driven instrument, of which there are many variations which are essentially subsets of the accordion. Since the plugin can simulate these, by not using all the features and ranks, I decided to call it SIM-SQUEEZE rather than SIM-ACCORDION.

I gather that if you are a gentleman you won’t play this!

Here’s the download for everything:

Just in time for the Weird Al Yankovic film coming out...
I keep a pair of oven mitts next to my computer so I don't get a concussion from slapping my forehead while I'm reading the responses to my questions.

Nice job as usual, Spogg! If you continue at this pace, there will be nothing left to simulate by the end of this year!

Oh for f* sake  You tricked me... I was suggested the vid on youtube. Only read the name and clicked.

And there I was... "face to face" or "physical modelled bellow to ear" with my arch-enemy. THE ACCORDION.

Albeit, in plugin form.

The only instrument on the planet I can't stand

8-) But still very cool simulation anyway... Nice!

PS
The only accordion my ears seem to tolerate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBCYvoC4muc

Am I to take it that you like Bagpipes then?

Oh I'll choose the bagpipe over the accordion any day of the week... :D no contest whatsoever!

But the bagpipe has a very overpowering drone sound, alot like for example key harp or the hurdy-gurdy... even if entirely different kind of instrument.

Used right and in moderate doses  good moodsetters when pushed back in a mix...

This post serves two purposes.

1. To prove to you, R&R, that you can't escape a Vulcan. No matter, which instrument!

2. To let you see, Spogg, that others are showcasing your instruments, and not in a bad way. It also tells you, how important obviously presets are :D

Thanks tulamide! :D

I was aware of the first video but not the second one which I think is great.

It was really interesting for me to see someone who knew nothing about bagpipes or my plugin deal with it. I’ve added replies to some comments there too.
