Almost TOO Robust?

Post by Duckett »

One of the many improvements I've been thankful for is the increasing ability of FS to handle crashes; even if the alpha crashes, it does very well at recovering the laststate before the crash.
All good, right? Almost... in the sense that, if there's bad-programmer mistakes that the schematic handles without crashing, they don't reveal themselves until one is testing the exported plugin, and finds a certain condition or knob-turn etc. crashes the DAW (or results in a silence that even the mighty Clear Audio or changing presets cannot surmount, and that requires completely reloading the plugin).. not really asking for a solution or anything, just kvetching a little ;)
We have to train ourselves so that we can improvise on anything... a bird, a sock, a fuming beaker! This, too, can be music. Anything can be music. -Biff Debris

I’ve had this happen on very rare occasions with 3.06. One thing to be aware of is having any reliance on green for critical timing, because the green system normally runs faster in a plugin.
Also when changing a preset be careful of indeterminate states that can happen.

Now as a moderator I feel duty bound to remind you and others that any discussion about the alpha should be on Slack, apart from documentation contributions.
