Vostok - An analogue polyphonic synthesizer

Post by Halon »

Haven't been here for a while, so decided to share something i'm working on at the moment. It's inspired by the Yamaha CS-60/80 and a fictitious synthesizer from the USSR that might have been made back then. I have always been intrigued by the synthesizers from the USSR. Anyway as mentioned above, i am still working on it, and i am also having a few problems such as most of the preset parameters doesn't show up in my DAW (presets are still saved with all the correct settings inside FlowStone) and i am also having a problem with the
pitch bend module < using pitch bend to modulate cutoff, vibrato etc. So if anyone could have a peek inside the schematic (its a bit of a spaghetti mess atm) i would be very grateful.

Cheers!

That’s a nice synth!

I’ve spogged it a bit:

1) In the preset properties Auto was not checked for any controls, so I set it. Automation should now work in a DAW (but I didn’t test it).
Just for info this was done in a few seconds for all 70 sliders and knobs. I synchronised all the preset modules, disconnected the bool for Auto, changed it to True and reconnected it then unsynchronised all. That way all the knobs were changed at once (but please check!).

2) I added a module that puts out -1 to 1 for the Pitchbend wheel going over its whole sweep range. I connected it to the PB output and set Program 1 so the PB wheel also controls modulation and cutoff frequency to demo that it works. If you want 0 to 1 I’m sure you’ll see what to do.

I hope I got the right end of the stick and this is what you wanted!

Final version is up now. Added an external input for processing other synthesizers in your favorite DAW, added a delay parameter to the LFO, pitch drift and a noise and hum module (on the output) i borrowed from spogg's A.S.S synth.

Hope you like it and enjoy!

Cheers, Espen.

Well spogg made a synth called A.S.S a couple of years ago, A.S.S = 'Analogue Sounding Synth' > A.S.S' :D

Actually, i forgot to name the presets. I should also add a few more, as well as some initial presets for those who want to make their own, although i didnt lock the first 10 presets though. Also i keep having new ideas for the synth so i keep adding new things. Will upload the final-final version soon.
