Re: Question of Pitch Perception
...there must be something analogous to vibration in our acoustic perception system...
That is at least partly true of all of our senses. Nerves/synapses are essentially binary in nature - a stronger stimulus does not produce a "stronger" signal, as nerve impulses are either present or not present ...

Re: Quilcom SIM-FILM: Optical sound!
I've been watching quite a few vintage film clips on YouTube recently; mostly military training films from WW2 and interviews with veterans, so generally quite low quality. Comparing those with SIM-FILM, I have to say that you've captured the sound very convincingly - and I finally learned what the ...

Re: Question of Pitch Perception
At the low end, there is a complementary question that might have a bearing on things. If you play a series of pulses at a slowly increasing tempo, at what point do you stop perceiving them as individual pulses (a "rhythm") and begin hearing them as a tone (a "waveform")?

Re: "The ultimate synthesizer"
I've never been a fan of the Swiss Army Knife approach to synths (or any other kinds of tools). For me it's the GUI that's often the deciding factor, I want to craft a sound to fulfil a particular role with the minimum of fuss, and I am not a fan of doom-scrolling through presets. If it were up to ...

Re: Flowstone 4 alpha (FS4)
Thanks, Spogg. I'll come to play ASAP - though unfortunately, spring-cleaning my PC in readiness has resulted in a much, much quieter cooling fan at the expense of buggering up several other rather vital parts, so I have a little fettling to do (and some crawling around under my desk looking for a ...

Re: A question about green tick when using control.
I saw an great example of "perfect timing" just before Xmas... A live band* consisting of fourteen people blowing, banging, and twanging pretty much everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. By the old FOH engineer's rule of thumb (1 imperial foot => 1 ms time delay), those musicians were dealing ...

Re: Flowstone 4 alpha (FS4)
Hi guys, nice to see familiar faces around still. Hope you're all well. :D
Finally got digs with my own personal front door again, very slack at work at the moment, and haven't room/can't afford any more Lego Technic - so I I got curious to see what's going down in FlowStone land! Don't know how ...

Re: A question about green tick when using control.
I'm totally aware of all of it
Hiya tula, good to see you around! :D I'd have been very shocked if you weren't aware of it all! More of an exercise to see if my rusty old FS neurons and synapses are still working - explaining being the best test that I still understand it myself after so long ...

MIDI would be my preferred choice
