Quilcom SynthVerb

Hello!

When I released my Quilcom OscVerb it was received much better than I expected. I had suggestions about adding a MIDI output to control external synths, but FlowStone doesn’t support MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) and any connected synth would have to respond to MPE. To address the very ...

Quilcom SIM-DILRUBA

After releasing my SIM-SITAR someone suggested I should do a Dilruba, so I had a go (once I found out what it was!). This “bowed sitar” proved a real challenge, especially since it’s played with lots of portamento slides. So, this is my best attempt.

On new years eve when the fireworks were on, I thought that might be an interesting task for Spogg... Would that be something you would consider perhaps for the next occassion?
It's a thought...

Quilcom ENFORCER

Hello!

My elderly neighbour used to be a Chief Superintendent and collects police memorabilia. He got me interested in early police whistles, and actually gave me one which once belonged to the Liverpool City Police. I used to assume these were like “referee” whistles with a pea for modulation. In ...

Quilcom CREATURE

It’s very quiet here!

Anyway…

Someone on YouTube suggested I make a SIM-ANIMAL to simulate animal sounds. I found it an interesting idea, but I failed completely. I quickly learned that animal vocalisations, while not as complex as human speech, are still complex enough to be extremely difficult ...

Re: Quilcom SIM-ARC

Bravo! Another piece of great art and engineering from you, Mr. Spogg!
An electric arc is a complex phenomenon, and the sound it emits is certainly not easy to simulate - I would not even know where to begin. You captured its characteristics very well! When I close my eyes and listen to your SIM ...

Re: Quilcom SIM-TABLA

Wow! Absolutely stunning! :ugeek:
I have always been impressed by the realism of your drum simulations, but with the SIM-TABLA you've really outdone yourself. Man it sounds so much like the real thing, I would not be able to tell them apart in an A-B test.
And what a clever mapping of the vast ...

Quilcom SIM-TABLA

And here’s another one…
I’d been thinking about making a tabla plugin for some time, but was worried about all the different types of strokes that skilled players can perform. In the end I decided to focus on the typical “signature” sounds rather than trying to adapt a MIDI keyboard to cover all of ...

Quilcom SIM-HANDBELLS

Hello FS friends!

I wanted to make something a bit seasonal for Christmas 2024, so I had the idea to make a handbell synth. I thought it would be easy but, as is often the case, even humble bells aren’t so humble and players use various techniques for different expressions. Damping is especially ...

Quilcom SIM-ARC

Hi all!

Someone on Facebook was looking for a plugin to synthesise electrical arc sounds, but couldn’t find one. So I decided to have ago. I also got interested in the sound of “Singing Tesla Coils” which also feature electric arcs but can play pitched sound to make music, so that’s also provided ...
